It is impossible to visit the heart of the Verdon Gorges without taking the route of the crests and enjoying the panoramic viewpoints offered by the belvederes and thus getting closer to the vultures.
After the visit of the old villages, the discovery of the lakes, why not venture towards the valley of the High Verdon, source of the Verdon, or explore the low Gorges also rich in landscapes.

A MUST SEE :

LA ROUTE DES CRÊTES (THE ROAD OF THE PEAKS) :

A 24 km loop on the commune of La Palud Sur Verdon allowing to visit the most impressive part of the Gorges du Verdon seen from above. There are fifteen viewpoints, and you may be able to see vultures flying over the ridges.

THE VULTURES :

Since 1999, vultures fly again over the Gorges du Verdon. Come and discover these vultures during nature walks starting from the Chapelle de Rougon. Registration and information here Insolite nature.

SAMSON CORRIDOR / POINT SUBLIME :

It is the emblematic belvedere of the Gorges on the right bank of the Verdon.
The Point Sublime is one of the most picturesque viewpoints of the Gorges of the Verdon. It offers a spectacular view on the entrance of the Canyon, where the Verdon river flows between the two cliffs.

Discover also the stele in honor of Isidore Blanc, precursor of the discovery of the Gorges du Verdon who gave his name to the Blanc-Martel path.
At the bottom of Rougon and further down the sublime point, the lookout of the Sansom corridor marks the arrival or the departure of the Martel trail. You will have the possibility to go down to the Verdon's banks thanks to a staircase making the path less difficult. Once down, you will have a magnificent view of the cliffs with this mixture of gray and orange colors so particular to this region without forgetting the Verdon with its emerald color. If you are equipped with a flashlight you will be able to walk and cross the Baou tunnel.




THE LAKES :


THE LAKE OF SAINTE CROIX is a place not to be missed during your visit to the Gorges du Verdon. Formed following the construction of a large dam in the 70's, it is today the largest lake in the region. To discover it and its villages and to enjoy the beautiful views, we invite you to drive around the lake.



THE LAKE OF CASTILLON is perched at an altitude of nearly 900 m, it borders the villages of Saint-Julien-du-Verdon, and Saint-André-les-Alpes. The lake of Castillon is the second biggest lake in surface behind the lake of Sainte-Croix. It offers another facet of the diversity of the Verdon landscapes.



THE LAKE D'ALLOS, a little further up the mountain, is the largest natural lake in Europe in the heart of the Mercantour National Park, a real beauty spot.



THE LAKE D'ESPARON, in the lower gorges, is one of the wildest of the Verdon with its many creeks and cliffs, its turquoise waters, its gorges.



THE LAKE OF QUINSON extends over 11 km between the downstream of the gorges of Baudinard and the low gorges. It is in fact a succession of small wild lakes intersected by the Quinson dam. It is the least touristy.

THE LAVENDERS :
